Pedro de la Cruz

Pedro de la Cruz is a self-taught artist born in Tijuana, Mexico. The colors in De La Cruz's paintings reflect the rich culture of his Mexican upbringing.

He particularly delights in painting people he meets and capturing their true essence. Informed by his own life story, De La Cruz is attracted to painting happy and confident people who dare to dream. His colorful protagonists are loving and optimistic figures who embody a total freedom of expression, depicted in a magical world of love that pulsates with affection, light, and joy.

 

His painting Unity and Love (2020) was featured on the cover of the 45th anniversary issue of Santa Barbara Magazine during the summer of 2022. De La Cruz assigned particular significance to this selection, as he believes that, above all, the hardships and challenges facing us in this point in history require the emphatic and hopeful qualities that this work so boldly embodies.
